TYPE OF POSITION:    Full-time (1.0); 2023-2024 school year; salary commensurate with experience and education as set forth in the agreement between the School Committee of the Town of Seekonk and Local 1701, State Council 93, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO

 

LOCATION:  George R. Martin Elementary School  

 

The TAP Instructional Aide is responsible for the implementation of the therapeutic elements of the program under the direction of the special education teacher which includes overseeing the behavioral, social and emotional support to students as issues arise in the classroom and in the program.  This individual will be required to support the collection of behavioral data of the students she services, under the direction and guidance of the special education teacher.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

To be considered qualified for this position, candidates must minimally have the following:

  1.     Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree and/or passing score on Paraprofessional Assessment
  2.     Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with children and adults.
  3.     Ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents, and staff.

REPORTS TO:  Building Principal

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS which include but are not limited to:

  1.     Ability to assist students in academic endeavors and developmentally appropriate behavioral expectations.
  2.     Willingness to respond to the unique needs, learning styles, and service delivery responsibilities as set forth in the IEP.
  3.     Demonstration of effective collaboration skills with special education teachers, regular education staff and administrators.
  4.     Flexibility, organization and communication skills.
  5.     Perform and assure that all programmatic mandates are followed under the direction of the special education teacher/principal.
  6.     Provide ongoing communication with the special education teacher/principal regarding student performance, concerns, and outcomes.
  7.     Facilitate optimal student learning.
  8.     Monitor behavioral expectations.
  9.     Collect data when appropriate.
  10.   Comply with programmatic requirements.
  11.   Demonstrate consistency and integrity in student programming.
  12.   Assure confidentiality of all student information and all matters related to special education.
