LOCATION: Seekonk High School

APPROX. START DATE AND DURATION: April 6, 2026 to end of 2025-2026 school year

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified candidates

PAY RANGE: $125.00-$275.54 (daily rate)

 

REPORTS TO:  Building Principal

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered qualified for this position, candidates must minimally have the following:

  1. Licensed, or eligible for licensure as Secondary School Counselor/Guidance Counselor by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  2. Three years successful teaching or guidance experience at the secondary level
  3. Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to IEPs and 504s
  4. Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills
  5. Excellent oral and communication skills
  6. Ability to use technology for data analysis, scheduling, communication

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS which include but are not limited to:

  1. Develop, implement, and update the guidance curriculum in order to raise achievement levels for all students in accordance with the school's mission and national standards
  2. Assist with administering local, state, and national testing
  3. Attend and participate in Senior Night, Underclassmen Awards, Financial Aide Night along with other similar programs
  4. Participate in programs for parents and students in order to facilitate communication between the school, home, and community
  5. Possess a working knowledge of student information systems
  6. Counsel individuals and groups concerning their educational and occupational plans along with their immediate needs and specific problems
  7. Assist with the transition between the high school and middle school
  8. Understand the laws that govern special education students including those that impact IEPs and 504 plans
  9. Facilitate appropriate referrals based on knowledge of community and state agencies
  10. Working knowledge of MA Core requirements, MCAS requirements, EWIS
  11. Work cooperatively with other members of the school and district administration to best meet the needs of the students at Seekonk High School
  12. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the high school administration
